The updates you need to do to love your home again

You are scrolling Instagram and Tiktox and you are flooded with all these gorgeous homes. These homes are picture perfect not a dog hair or toy box in sight. Well if there is they are beautifully organised and put together. If like me this leaves you thinking about your own home. I am here to tell you about the changes you can make which will give you that insta-worthy home of your dreams. No more hiding your home you will want to show it off too.

1. Building work
First, is your home actually working for you? Have you dreamed of an open-plan living room kitchen? Why not actually take the leap and find out if it is possible to do it. Sometimes it's not as hard as you would think. One of my friends contacted her builder and she was surprised to learn she could actually remove the wall with little cost and did most of the work herself.

Sit down and think about your dream building adjustment and make a list. Why not see if they are possible they might not be as hard as you think. This can include adding in extra storage like a built-in wardrobe or how about an understairs cupboard? These are all possible so why not make it happen.

2. The bathroom
The bathroom is always something people complain about in their homes. This is your place of relaxation and tranquillity.  I wish I had a deeper bath. I wish I had a wet room. I really wish we had a jacuzzi bath. I want a steam shower. The list seems endless right?

So what is stopping you from changing it out to make the bathroom of your dreams? Do it, It will be cheaper than moving house that I know for sure. Your bathroom should be a sanctuary of peace and functionality.  Steam showers from Insignia Showers are really affordable and make such a lovely upgrade to any bathroom. Turn that bathroom back into somewhere you want to relax.

3. Change up that kitchen.
One common complaint is my kitchen is so outdated and I hate it. Yes ideally you would get a full kitchen redo but if that is not possible there are little tweaks you can make that are really inexpensive.

Why not update your worktops this can make a really big impact on the whole look of your kitchen. You can always paint or update the kitchen cupboards to give them a modern look. Kitchen tiles can be transformed with some tiles stickers too. This is inexpensive it just takes some patience and a steady hand.

Making these small and simple changes will help to reenergize the space and make you fall back in love with your kitchen again.

4. Update the lighting
Lighting can be a big problem in British homes. Most were built a long time ago for convince and not with lighting in mind. Leaving them very dark inside and lacking in natural light. If you have no way of adding in extra natural light with windows or skylight windows.

You can easily fake it til you make it by adding in more lighting. You can have some extra light fitted to your roof or walls. Or buy some extra floor lamps. There are so many affordable options and these can make your home feel more inviting, fresher and brighter.

5. Paint
This is one of the simplest things to do. Changing up the colour of a room can make a big impact. Getting rid of harsh colours and moving to a more neutral clean look can add an instant more modern decor to any room. Equally adding colour can change a plain room to a more statement area.

Paint is inexpensive and if you don't like it you can always paint over it and start again. Don't worry if you have never painted a room before it really is an easy thing to do. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself you can hire someone to do it for you. But colour is a great way to make a space you didn't like into a space you love in a super quick time.

I hope these tips have given you some ideas on ways you can love your home again.
